MLG Map Submission: Select; Fight Your Way Across the Narrow Divide

Select
Forged by SecretSchnitzel and Co. (Dawkins, Bleu and Greedy Guts)

Select is an elongated bridge based symetrical map designed for submission to MLG for their playlist. It traces its primary source of inspiration back to H3's Narrows, however, it is far departed from that map in the same sense. This map ideal for MLG 3 Flag, however it supports Bomb, Territories, Slayer, Oddball and KotH strongly as well.

Gametypes:
Team Slayer
Territories
KotH
Oddball
Bomb
CTF

Weapons:
DMR x6
Needle Rifle x4
Plasma Pistol x2
Sniper x2
Rockets x1
Frags x2
Plasma x2

Equipment
Invis x1
OS x1
Med Kit x2

This map is a testament to what a open and supportive can accomplish. The original concept and design of this map is my work, however as time progress and I'd hit "forger's block" I started to bring in my peers for assistance. This slowly turned into a massive collaboration between Dawkins, Bleu and GreedyGuts with myself steering the way. A lot of the brace work branching off the main bridge to the streets is attributed to Bleu, however he was a also present to help with a lot of the forging over all. The base design is attributed to GreedyGuts and Dawkins. Greedy designed the original, however we could not implement it correctly with our Mancannons and thus Dawkins redesigned it to do so. The final base design was what I tweaked from the prior two. Over all we shared ideas and were very open to what each other had to say. While I was the final deciding factor in any matter, I placed much value on the input of the other forgers. This map would not have been possible without them.

Amalgam Revisited

Amalgam is currently in it's polished and simplified state for submission to MLG and Bungie. Much of the maps geometry has been simplified in order to cut down on possible frame rate lag in split screen, and fortunately this has no impacted the map's aesthetics in a noticeable manner. It anything, Amalgam now looks much cleaner and far more proffesional. Mad thanks to Col Keller for setting the flooring for me.

Amalgam is an asymmetrical arena map designed specifically with MLG Ball and MLG Territories in mind. It was built for MLG's second map submission contest. The map features a dynamic spawn system as well as brutal and fast paced game play. The finely crafter lines of sight force players to always keep their head on a swivel lest they be taken by surprise from cross map. Amalgam also features a finely tuned balance of hard cover as well as line of sight breaking geometry.
Amalgam has several jump ups that are vary from relative ease to moderately difficult. The easiest of the Jumps is the Jump Pad found at bottom mid. While not the best choice at time, mastery of it can prove deadly. Use this jump sparingly, however, as you may be leaping from the pan and into the fire.
There are two jumps at the front door of Gold Side. These are simple crouch jumps and should prove no problem for the casual player. There is also a small shield door lift that the player needs to jump into to use at the bottom of red side.
The moderate jumps are the Gold Strut slide jump and the Shotty Hall slide jump. These may prove challenging to players unacquanted with basic skill jumps. The Gold Strut Jump leads to the Gold Window overlooking Red Side while the Shotty Jump leads from Shotty Hall to Blue Hall.
The most difficult of the jumps is the S1 to Elbow jump. This jump can catch the opposing team off guard when executed correctly.

Amalgam's Ugly Twin Sister, Synthetic

Recently my wildly popular map, Amalgam, has come under fire by the Forge Hub staff. Essentially, as I am not a popular person and this map has been sitting comfortable for a good while on the front page of the Competitive Section, it has been kicked into the neglected corner known as the MLG section... The reasoning? The seal the lid on it and prevent me from gaining further notoriety within the community. The legitimacy? The map technically is a MLG map... It might even get picked up for circuit play. The fact that MLG is looking at it and considering it says enough about its legitimacy.

Anyhow, just as a spiteful little jest, I've taken the same map and "prettied" it up with rocks and such (ohhhh the frame rate will soooooo suck) and replaced all the weapons with "fun" ones. This new version, "Synthetic" will be posted ASAP in the same forum that Amalgam just got kicked from.

Suck it Forge Hub.

Videos!

Hey every one! Just throwing up a quick post to keep this blog alive as well as show you what I've been working on during my spare time. Here we have two of my latest map creations in Halo Reach, Amalgam and Cold Snap. Amalgam is currently in consideration for the MLG (Major League Gaming) Playlist. Wish me the best of luck in getting it accepted. The video's were edited and posted by my good friend Jeff, aka Bleuprint. He's got some wicked tracks (the songs are his creations) and a good eye for the camera. Thanks a ton man!

The second map, Cold Snap, is a symmetrical re-imagination of Halo: CE's Chill Out. It was co-forged by Bleuprint, Mac xL and myself.
